You may have seen us touting his arrival on Facebook and Instagram but we can’t wait to officially introduce you to our newest member of the HSP fam!

Meet Jarvis: the newest member of the HSP Imaging, Inc family! He’s furry, spunky, and oh so cuddly! Although, most importantly, Jarvis is a leader dog for the blind - in training. Under the guidance of Kellie Smith, owner of Positive Paws training and wife to HSP Imaging, Inc owner Erik Smith, this pup will be spending the first year of his life in full time training with the Smith family. And of course, since coming to live with the Smith’s, Jarvis has been making quite a few appearances to the HSP studios. As expected those visits included a bit of time in front of the camera! So are you ready to see this pups first “hero-in-training” cameo? Yes? Well, let me warn you in advance, it’s nothing short of heart-exploding cute!

Welcome Jarvis!

Jarvis’ arrival marks the tenth seeing eye dog to train with the Smith family over the last several years. You may even remember a few of the dogs who came before him, such as Banner, Marty, or Murphy. They also spent some time with us at the studios to capture their unique heroic traits on film.

What Exactly is a Future Leader Dog?

The program that Kellie volunteers her time with to train these pups is called Leader Dogs for the Blind. This program pairs service dogs with those in need, with services free of cost to their clients. The leader dogs help the Leader Dogs for the Blind clients to develop the confidence and skills needed to live independent lives.

These dogs need to be ready and knowledgeable on how to help their new owners and that’s where Kellie and her family come in to play. They invite this dog to live with them for the first year of his life - while Kellie uses this crucial learning time to make sure he’s on the right track to becoming a leader dog!

It’s a full time gig but well worth it when it means using your talents to give back the community - a core truth that both of the family business’ were founded on.

One of the hardest parts of ordering portraits is sizing. What size is the best for your space, what size do family members want, and how will they be displayed?

HSP is here to help, during our ordering sessions here at our studio in Fenton Michigan we have a new system that allows you to see your portraits on your homes walls instantly. This takes the guessing work out of hanging portraits and gives an accurate view of the space. All too often we hear.."8x10 that's too big!" Or we don't need a really big one.

Below is an example of an 8x10 hung on a wall, we think you will agree Grandma is going to have a hard time enjoying this portrait!

Last weekend Wilson finally got it together and had a senior session with us! We hit classic downtown Fenton areas and we hope you agree the results are awesome!

This weekend we packed up the truck and took off to see this blue ice that we had been hearing so much about on Facebook. As a photographer I always want to find a different way to photograph what everyone else is pointing a camera at. In this case it didn't matter where I pointed my camera there was beauty all around us.

The kids enjoyed climbing on the ice and seeing how far they could see, while we also took the opportunity to snap a quick family portrait. While we lacked on the pre planning of outfits and colors we made up for in location!

If you have the opportunity to see this rare occurrence it is highly recommended to stay close to the shoreline, the best viewing we found was right downtown Mackinaw City.  Enjoy a few of our photos from this random adventure!
